Safe Families for Children is a volunteer-driven ministry with the goal of keeping kids safe and families intact. We organize vetted and trained volunteers from local churches to temporarily house children at their parent’s request and offer individualized support for families in crisis. We aim to offer a broad community of support to those in our city who may be in need of assistance and/or have limited resources. We are in need of volunteers in a variety of roles to grow this ministry. Visit the website at www.newyorkcity.safe-families.org to learn more. Our next training will be held at our Resurrection Brooklyn office at 367 Jay Street. January 11th is a training for all volunteers from 7-9:30pm. January 21st is a continued training for hosts and coaches from 9am-1pm. Register at: nycsafefamilies.eventbrite.com. Email Laura Galt with questions: firstname.lastname@example.org.

The Park Slope prayer ministry is organizing a prayer walk for our neighborhood on Saturday, November 12. We will send out various teams that will focus on specific ways God’s Kingdom can bring healing and wholeness to our neighborhood and borough. Some groups might pray for racial reconciliation, some for our schools, some for our public servants, some for justice, some for Resurrection’s space needs, others for the Gospel to make inroads and draw new people to Christ.
We will meet at the church office (174 PPW) at 10:00 AM and disperse in small groups to pray over various sites in the neighborhood, then reconvene at 12:00 noon for sharing and light refreshments. Contact Emily Schatz (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Alan Farhi (email@example.com).
